For its 10th anniversary in 2013, the Open Source Agency newthinking set the goal to publish a magazine – in collaboration with its community by doing a „Magazin Sprint“. Inspired and motivated by Boosksprints, the newtinking Magazin was produced in a Sprint as well. The production of content was limited to three days and realised as an open event: everybody with experiences in the fields of digital culture, netpolitics, open everything or similar topics was invitited to contribute.
The Magazin Sprint format itself was highly collaborative: every participant could get involved into the process according to their interests and expertise. The attendees teamed up to do research, collaborate on writing articles or to visualize the content. Instead of merely networking, the participants gained knowledge, exchanged experiences and – through intense collaboration – created a concrete outcome. Within three days of collaboration over 40 articles were produced by around 30 participants. Afterwards the whole design and layout for the 140 pages magazin was created within one week.
The Magazin „Open Everything – Ein Magazin über digitale Kultur, Netzpolitik und neue Arbeitswelten“ was published at re:publica and can be purchased since May 2013 in many Kiosk around Germany. As well, it can be downloaded here.
